Stretch Film for Manufacturing & Production
On a production floor, wrapping usually sits at the end of the line, after the part that is genuinely hard to get right. The film’s job is to unitise finished goods quickly and consistently, without becoming the step that slows everything behind it down.
Hilux Poly supplies clear and black hand pallet wrap built around exactly that. Every roll is made to a consistent 400mm x 250m with its length and weight published, held in UK stock in Derby, and dispatched the same working day before 2pm, by the carton or by the pallet.
What actually matters in manufacturing and production
A roll that behaves the same at 8am and at 4pm. A genuine 250m roll, not an optimistic estimate on the box, means fewer mid-run changeovers. A consistent thickness means the same number of turns gives the same result pallet after pallet, which matters when more than one person is doing the wrapping.
Batch and QC labels stay readable. Clear film keeps batch numbers, product codes and QC labelling visible without unwrapping, useful for traceability and for goods-in checks further down the chain.
Recycled content, if it matters to your reporting. Every roll we supply carries 30%+ recycled content as standard, relevant if your own procurement or ISO reporting tracks packaging material.
Recommended rolls for manufacturing use
For end-of-line unitising: 23 Micron Clear (Standard Core). Enough hold for finished goods of varying shapes and weights, on a dispenser for consistent tension shift after shift.
For variable or short runs: 23 Micron Clear (Extended Core). For shorter runs, sample batches or awkward-shaped output where setting up a dispenser is not worth it.
For lighter, high-volume output: 17 Micron Clear (Standard Core). Brings the cost per pallet down on stable, uniform loads coming off the line.

Cutting film cost at volume
At production volumes, how you wrap moves the budget more than which roll you buy. Three things save real money across a year:
Apply proper tension. Loosely applied film uses more of itself for less hold. A dispenser set to a sensible tension gets more containment from every metre, which means fewer turns per pallet and fewer cartons over a month.
Standardise the wrap. Agree a base-anchor and a turn count for your common output so every operator wraps to the same spec, regardless of shift.
Buy on weight, not headline price. Because we publish roll weight, you can compare true cost per kilo of film and per pallet wrapped, rather than being caught by a cheaper carton that simply has less film on it.

23 Micron clear on a standard core, used with a hand dispenser, for most finished-goods unitising. It gives consistent tension shift after shift and keeps batch labels readable. Use 17 Micron clear where loads are lighter and uniform to bring the cost down.
Does stretch film affect batch traceability?
Not with clear film, batch numbers, product codes and QC labels stay readable through the wrap, so goods-in checks and traceability work the same as unwrapped.
