Pallet Wrap Calculator

Enter your pallet size and wrapping method for an estimate of film length, rolls and cost. This is a documented approximation, not a precision tool, every assumption is shown below the result. Not sure what size your pallets are? See our UK pallet sizes guide.

Pallet wrap calculator by Hilux Poly, UK pallet wrap maker.

Real usage depends on wrapper technique, film pre-stretch, load shape and machine settings. Use this as a starting point, not a precision figure – ask us to confirm against your own loads.

How the pallet wrap calculator works

The estimate follows a simple method you can check yourself. We take the distance round your pallet (twice the length plus twice the width), work out how many bands of film it takes to cover the height with your chosen overlap, then multiply by the number of full passes. Divide that by 250m, the length of every roll, and you have the number of rolls. Rolls come six to a box, so the box count rounds up.

It's a starting point. Real use changes with how tightly you wrap, how much the film is pre-stretched and the shape of the load. A tall, awkward load or a draughty loading bay usually needs more turns, not fewer.

    Which film should you pick?

Light, square boxes kept indoors are fine on 17 micron clear. For heavier, uneven or sharp-edged loads, or anything going on a long journey, 23 micron clear is the safer choice, and 23 micron black does the same job while hiding what's on the pallet. If you wrap by hand without a dispenser, the extended core rolls have handles built in. Not sure? Our 17 vs 23 micron guide explains the difference.

A quick note on the name. Plenty of people search for shrink wrap when they mean pallet wrap, and that's what we sell: film you pull as you wrap, which clings to itself and holds the load.
