23 Micron Clear Stretch Film — Standard Core

23 micron clear pallet wrap, 6 rolls per box

This is our heavy-duty clear stretch film. Use it when a load is heavy or uneven, has sharp corners, or has a long or rough journey ahead. The extra thickness resists punctures and tears better than a lighter film, and it’s made for pallets of more than 500kg.

It does the job of a standard 23 to 25 micron film. Each roll is 400mm by 250m and weighs 2.43kg, and the film contains at least 30% post-consumer recycled plastic.

What it’s good for

• Pallets over 500kg
• Irregular loads and anything with sharp edges or corners
• Loads that can move, such as drums, bottles and liquids
• Long-distance and export deliveries
• Pallets stored outside for a while

If you’d rather hide what’s on the pallet, the same film comes in black. For lighter, even loads, 17 micron clear will save you money.

Using it

The 50mm core fits a compatible hand dispenser. For machine wrapping, contact us to confirm the correct film and compatibility before ordering. When wrapping by hand, a dispenser really helps on heavy loads, because it keeps the tension steady all the way up the pallet. Put extra turns round the base to tie the load to the pallet, and a couple more at the top. Our guide to wrapping heavy and sharp-edged loads has more tips.

Because the film is clear, labels and barcodes stay readable through the wrap.

Frequently asked questions

Is 23 micron better than 17 micron?

It’s stronger, which isn’t the same as better for every job. For heavy, uneven or sharp loads it’s the right choice. For light, even boxes it’s more film than you need.

Can I use it on pallets stored outside?

Yes, it’s suitable for pallets kept outside for a period. If the goods need shielding from sunlight, black film is the better choice.

Can I still scan barcodes through it?

Yes. Labels stay readable and most scanners read straight through clear stretch film.

Is this the same as shrink wrap?

Lots of people call it shrink wrap. You pull it as you wrap and it clings to itself, so it holds pallets, boxes, furniture, tools and most other loads firmly in place.
