17 micron clear pallet wrap, 6 rolls per box

This is our lighter clear stretch film. It’s made for loads that are even, square and not too heavy, such as boxed goods and cartons going into a warehouse or out on a normal delivery run. On that kind of pallet it holds as well as a thicker film, and you get the full 250 metres on every roll for less money.

Each roll is 400mm wide and weighs 1.87kg. We publish the weight so you can check it when the box arrives. The film contains at least 30% post-consumer recycled plastic, which keeps it outside the UK Plastic Packaging Tax.

What it’s good for

• Square, even pallet loads up to about 500kg
• Cartons and boxed goods without sharp edges
• Stock that’s stored indoors
• Loads that won’t shift in transit (so not liquids)
• Cutting film costs on lighter pallets

If your loads are heavier, have sharp corners, contain liquids or spend time outside, use our 23 micron clear film instead.

Using it

The 50mm core fits a standard hand dispenser, which is the easiest way to keep the tension even and save your hands. For machine wrapping, contact us to confirm the correct film and compatibility before ordering. For the odd pallet, you can wrap by hand without either. If you’d rather not use a dispenser at all, our extended core rolls have built-in handles.

Clear film lets you read labels and scan barcodes through the wrap, so nobody needs to cut into a pallet to see what’s on it.

Frequently asked questions

Is 17 micron strong enough for my pallets?

For even loads up to about 500kg that stay indoors, yes. It suits most boxed stock. For heavy, uneven or sharp-edged loads, or pallets going a long way, use 23 micron.

What’s the difference between 17 and 23 micron?

23 micron is thicker, so it resists punctures and tears better and holds heavier loads. 17 micron uses less plastic and costs less. Our 17 vs 23 micron guide explains when each one makes sense.

How many pallets will a box wrap?

It depends on your pallet height and how many turns you use. Our pallet wrap calculator gives you an estimate for your own loads.

Is this the same as shrink wrap?

Lots of people call it shrink wrap. You pull it as you wrap and it clings to itself, so it holds pallets, boxes, furniture, tools and most other loads firmly in place.
