What is stretch wrap film?

A stretchy plastic film wrapped around pallets or bundled goods to hold them together for storage and transport. Applied under tension it clings to itself and pulls back against the load, keeping it stable.

Is stretch wrap the same as pallet wrap?

Yes, they are the same product under different names.

Is pallet wrap the same as shrink wrap?

Yes. Lots of people ask for shrink wrap or pallet shrink wrap when they mean these rolls, and it’s the film you need for pallets, furniture, boxes and general packaging. You pull it as you wrap and it clings to itself to hold the load.

Is this hand pallet wrap?

Yes. All our rolls are hand pallet wrap. Standard core rolls fit a normal hand dispenser, and extended core rolls have handles built into the core so you can wrap without one.

Do you sell heavy duty pallet wrap?

Yes. Our 23 micron film is the heavy duty option, for loads over 500kg, sharp corners, loads that can shift and long journeys. Each roll weighs 2.43kg, so you can check you are getting the full 250 metres. If you have been asked to order heavy duty pallet stretch wrap or shrink wrap, this is the roll.

Which thickness do I need, 17 or 23 micron?

17 micron for lighter, stable, uniform loads and everyday boxes. 23 micron for heavier or taller pallets, mixed loads, edgy goods and anything going out on transport. When in doubt, 23 micron.

What is the difference between standard and extended core?

Standard core is made for a hand dispenser and gives the best tension control. Extended core has a longer cardboard core that sticks out at each end as a handle, so you can wrap without a dispenser. Same film, different way of applying it.

Should I choose clear or black?

Clear if contents and labels need to stay visible. Black if the load is better kept out of sight or you want a tidier finish. Colour does not affect strength.

Do you supply machine stretch film?

Our current range is hand film in standard and extended core. Machine wrapping needs machine film, which is a different product.

Can I use it for cold storage, fresh produce or food?

Our range is standard clear and black stretch film. It works for most chilled and indoor jobs, but some loads need something more specific. If you’re still not sure, call us and we’ll tell you honestly whether our film suits the job.

What size are your rolls?

Every roll is 400mm wide and 250m long, supplied 6 rolls per carton.

How many pallets will a roll wrap?

It depends on pallet size, load height, overlap and how many turns you apply, so we do not publish a fixed figure. What we do publish is the length and weight of every roll, so you can work out your own usage accurately and compare rolls fairly.

What is cast film?

Film made by extruding onto a chilled roller. It unwinds quietly, clings well and is clear, which makes it the usual choice for hand wrapping. It clings to itself rather than needing an adhesive, so it leaves no sticky residue or glue behind when removed.

Is the film recycled?

Yes, all rolls contain 30% or more recycled content.
