Stretch Film for Retail, Wholesale & Distribution

Distribution centres and wholesale floors move a high volume of mixed SKUs through a small footprint, often reworked into new pallet combinations more than once before they leave the building. The wrap has to go on fast and come off cleanly when a pallet gets broken down and rebuilt.

Hilux Poly supplies clear and black hand pallet wrap built around exactly that. Every roll is made to a consistent 400mm x 250m with its length and weight published, held in UK stock in Derby, and dispatched the same working day before 2pm, by the carton or by the pallet.

What actually matters in retail and distribution

Presentation on arrival. A pallet going out to a retail customer or trade account reflects on you when it lands. Black gives mixed, uneven or scuffed cartons one clean, uniform finish; clear keeps SKU labels and barcodes visible where stock still needs checking on the way out.

Speed at rebuild. Pallets that get broken down and reworked into new combinations need wrap that goes on quickly without a dispenser being fetched every time, especially for one-off trade or counter orders.

Stock still needs checking. Even in fast-moving distribution, labels and barcodes often need to stay readable for picking, goods-out checks and stock audits before despatch.

For customer-facing pallets: 23 Micron Black (Standard Core). A tidy, uniform finish on mixed or rebuilt pallets, useful when the pallet itself is part of what the customer sees on arrival.

Where stock still needs checking: 23 Micron Clear (Standard Core). Keeps labels and barcodes readable for picking, goods-out checks and stock audits before despatch.

For the trade counter: 23 Micron Clear (Extended Core) or Black (Extended Core). Quick wrapping for one-off trade orders and counter sales, without setting up a dispenser for a single pallet.

Cutting film cost at volume

Rewrapping pallets that get broken down and rebuilt adds up in film cost. Three things keep it under control:

Buy by the pallet once volume gets there. If you are rewrapping regularly, pallet-quantity pricing usually pays for itself against reordering by the carton each time.

Standardise on one roll per job type. One roll for customer-facing pallets, one for internal rebuilds, rather than mixing grades ad hoc across the floor.

Buy on weight, not headline price. Because we publish roll weight, you can compare true cost per kilo of film and per pallet wrapped, rather than being caught by a cheaper carton that simply has less film on it.

Buying for retail and distribution

Order by the 6-roll carton, or by the pallet for trade pricing that improves with volume. Held in UK stock, dispatched the same working day before 2pm, free to Mainland GB. Request trade and pallet pricing

Retail and distribution stretch film FAQs

Clear or black for a customer-facing pallet?

Black, if a tidy, uniform finish matters on arrival, particularly for mixed or rebuilt pallets. Clear, if the customer or your own team still needs to check labels or contents on sight.

What is the quickest way to wrap a one-off trade order?

Extended core, clear or black. The core ends work as handles, so you can wrap a single pallet by hand without setting up a dispenser, which is usually not worth it for a one-off.

When does pallet-quantity pricing make sense over cartons?

Once you are reordering the same roll regularly rather than occasionally, pallet pricing usually beats carton pricing. Tell us your typical volume and we will confirm the crossover point.

Wrapping fast-moving stock?

Tell us your typical mix, roughly how many cartons a month, and your delivery postcode. We will recommend the roll to standardise on and sort pallet pricing. Ask us which film to choose
